MANUEL ALBARRAN PUTS PEDAL TO THE METAL

The November issue of Dazed recently featured Spanish designer/artist Manuel Albarran's metal couture and we take a look at his new collection that are at once both futuristic as well as making historic reference. Traversing between art and fashion means Albarran's work sit just as well in fashion editorials as they do in installations or potentially films (his dream is to collaborate with Guillermo Del Toro and Ridley Scott).

Dazed Digital: Where are you based?

Manuel Albarran: Between Barcelona and London

DD: What materials do you use to make your pieces?
Manuel Albarran: Mainlly all metals combine with leather, fabrics, feathers and wood

DD: They are often quite warrior-like or mythical looking, what is the story behind them?
Manuel Albarran: That's one of the subject I like.

DD: Who do you have in mind when you design?
Manuel Albarran: Depends some time blank mind and just follow my instinct another I just follow some ideas and developed them.

DD: What inspires you at the moment?
Manuel Albarran: All historic and futuristic subjects

DD: Who would you like to collaborate with?
Manuel Albarran: Guillermo Del Toro and Ridley Scott

DD: How would you describe your own style?
Manuel Albarran: When you see one of my pieces you will know it is mine but if I have to say some thing will be Heavy Couture.

DD: If you weren't designing, what would you be doing?
Manuel Albarran: Martial arts.

DD: What are your plans for the future?
Manuel Albarran: I'll like to concentrate more in my one sort art films and art exhibitions, fashion for me is a platform to reach my aim.
