Something fishy seems to be going on at Harvard: The university is trying to be hip, possibly even chic. How else to explain Harvard's cameo on this week's episode of NYC Prep? And its new men's fashion line, Harvard Yard? And by fashion line, we don't mean maroon sweatshirts with crests on them. The university has inked a ten-year licensing deal with clothing manufacturer Wearwolf Group for a line of contemporary men's apparel. It's unclear if the line is part of the university's attempt to stop bleeding money. Harvard Yard — a lawn we imagine makes a nice resting ground for Harvard students to repair glasses, wipe down their pocket protectors, and memorize an extra few digits of pi — inspired the spring collection. The line includes "short-sleeve plaid shirts, Liberty print wovens, seersucker shorts, regimental stripes, sporty knits, patterned jackets and fancy pants — all in a contemporary, tapered fit," according to WWD.

The clothes won't be very Harvard-y in the literal sense. "Harvard" only appears on the labels inside the garments, while the university's signature crimson only appears in buttonholes, zipper pulls, and other trimmings. Prices range from $165 for pants to $495 for sport coats. The line's creative director, John Fowler, told WWD that designers drew from photos of students lounging in Harvard Yard in the sixties. “It’s a style that has become current again and not just with the American consumer. We think Harvard Yard will have global appeal.” So the fashion of Harvard could, one day, have the same reach as Gucci or Prada or ... the Gap.

But will Harvard students go for it? The line is mostly targeted to alums and "fans" of the university, which have no doubt multiplied exponentially since the school's Bravo debut this week. But the line's creators don't offer any solutions to Harvard Yard's inherent problem: Fashion and Harvard just don't go together. Would you give a child an Oreo and a glass of Dr Pepper to dip it in? Probably not. That said, apparently a market exists in Massachusetts for the pink-whale foam hats and sailboat belts by the epically preppy Vineyard Vines, so there is probably a market for this, too. And, terrifyingly, whoever buys it will likely accessorize with the Vineyard Vines Harvard ivy tie.

The AP interviewed Audrey Tautou, who plays Coco, and Anne Fontaine, the director, about the movie, and made a neat little video spliced with some scenes from the film (which we saw and adored, by the way). Anne says she cast Audrey as Coco because she looks exactly like Coco in her youth. Audrey talks a bit about Coco's character in accented English: "She wanted to be free. Grace Jones ... "So Far So Goude"

The arabesque that Grace Jones is executing in this 1978 photograph/artistic creation may be graceful, but it is also impossible. "What I'm interested is the illusion of reality," says the photographer and art director Jean-Paul Goude, who was to be Jones's Pygmalion, transforming her from hard-partying model to an androgynous fantasy image and international superstar. "And unless you are extraordinarily supple, you cannot do this arabesque. The main point is that Grace couldn't do it, and that's the basis of my entire work: creating a credible illusion."

A look through So Far So Goude, which collects the highlights of Goude's idiosyncratic 30-year career, reveals how much he has been inspired by the idea of an impossible image of womanhood. Goude's approach was to prove ultimately frustrating as far as Jones was concerned.

She had gained a certain amount of fame from modelling and performing in gay discos when Goude met and fell in love with her, and decided that she needed a more dramatic image. He photographed Jones in a variety of positions that were combined in a montage to make it possible to show her in profile and full frontal simultaneously. The anatomically unlikely arabesque was the end result. Accompanying an article by Nik Cohn in New York magazine, Goude's photographs were to launch Jones as an icon. Then he let his imagination run free, creating images of her with an imaginary male twin and multiplying her into an army of clones.

"Initially, she was flattered by all of my attention," says Goude on his former muse and lover. "And she's no dope - Grace is an opportunist and she knew my vision was good for her career. Initially, she let herself be taken over, but then she suspected that I had only fallen in love with her image." Was that true? "Of course it was! That's the story of my life."

"Isaac Mizrahi's going on TV. No, we don't mean the little-watched The Fashion Show. The designer is going on, wait for it ... QVC. Once the domain of cubic zirconia and spatulas, the cable channel is now home to a hybrid show featuring Isaac that's part reality TV, part talk show, and part sales. If you're wondering if this is genius, or thinking "What the hell?" you're not alone.

This little venture came about because of Isaac's personality, which, we can attest, is entertaining and pretty much what you see on camera. “We were just sitting there watching him talk, thinking, ‘My God! On air, you are going to resonate so strongly with our consumers!’” Doug Howe, chief merchandising officer of QVC says. So QVC execs decided he'd be a gold mine, and, as they recently saw a 10 percent drop in their first-quarter sales, they're trying to think outside the box.

And Mizrahi, who of late has seen a resurgence in his popularity, thanks to his lines at Target, Liz Claiborne, his own higher-end line, and his variety of TV work (Bravo, Food Network), is only extending his brand. But is it too much? At what point is it overexposure? “I think we are being strategic about the brand and its channels of distribution,” says business partner Marisa Gardini. Glad that's settled! Besides, Isaac gets to cook on this one. And who wouldn't want a cheesecake by him? See, people, fashion and carbs do go together."

IRMA VEP [ahhh i can't even begin to give you a "review" [so to speak] because I could be talking going on for hours and hours and pages and pages [ha!] but.. the star [MAGGIE CHEUNG] has been [as is] one of my all time favourite actresses/leading ladies/model/muse/[shall i go on] ?! [lol] .. anyway..

She even got the robot, sorry Miim, to take realistic sidelong glances at the bemused front row. ‘Like the father of the bride, I feel both happy and sad', said Katsura of Miim's debut, perhaps a little too proudly. So move over, Agy – the robot's developer hopes she will be able to work ‘in fashion in entertainment' in the future. There's just one problem Mrs Katsura. She's a little short for modelling standards these days.."
