NYFF screening of "Antichrist" by Lars von Trier

A few of you had emailed me about the NYFF screening of the ANTICHRIST by Lars von Trier [as far as I know all the tickets for both screening have been sold out :[ and are no longer available, but your best bet is to call the box-office at 212.875.5050]

Antichrist
Lars von Trier, 2009, Denmark, 109m

The great Dane is back with his most outrageous provocation yet. Or is Antichrist a genuine howl of despair, a cathartic masterwork made by a director recovering from crippling depression, as von Trier has claimed? Regardless of intention, von Trier’s latest film transports you inside the traumatized psyche of Charlotte Gainsbourg, in the year’s most courageous performance, sustaining rage, guilt, and self-hatred without once slipping into bathos. As a mother wracked with grief over the death of her only child, Gainsbourg is treated by her patronizing psychotherapist husband, played by Willem Dafoe, who suggests their cabin in the woods is the ideal spot for her recovery. Beautifully shot by Anthony Dod Mantle, Antichrist is an unforgettable domestic horror movie, a ghost story, a cry of anguish. Not for the squeamish, but not to be missed. An IFC Films release.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh [i can't wait!] heee xo xo :el fano:
